Aboitiz unit launches new masonry cement made in Danao

Aboitiz-led Republic Cement & Building Materials, Inc. recently launched a new high-strength masonry cement that is manufactured in its facility in Danao City, Cebu.

Kapit-Balay Masonry Cement was developed in response to the clamor of the Cebu construction industry for a masonry cement that is both economical and environment-friendly, while delivering on high quality standards for masonry, the company said in a statement.

Kapit-Balay Masonry Cement is a Type S high-strength masonry cement optimized for ease of application and adhesion, where mortar masonry is required.

This hydraulic cement is designed to be used for plastering, brick or block laying, and block filling with minimal wastage.

It uses less clinker due to its use of light micro-materials, thus, there is reduced carbon footprint in its production.

“We are happy to introduce Kapit-Balay Masonry Cement as a solution that will increase productivity for our contractors due to improved workability, while providing flexibility of application, since it can be used even for load-bearing walls,” Paul Victor Aquino, Republic Cement vice president for commercial, said when the product was launched during the Republic Cement’s Partners’ Night at a hotel in Mandaue City.

“Sustainability continues to be a top criteria for us in conceptualizing and designing our products. We are always looking for solutions that will not only increase value for our customers, but also reduce our environmental footprint,” Aquino added.
