The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) kicked off on Friday, May 31, 2019, this year’s Cebu Business Month celebration.
The theme for 2019 is “Innovation in Action”, which underscores the importance of innovation in all aspects of business. Each activity this year is aimed at raising the bar for members’ openness to innovation.
Lilu I. Aliño, chairperson of CBM 2019, led officers and members of the Cebu chamber in opening this year’s celebration during the Grand Opening Salvo at the Ayala Center Cebu on Friday.
CBM is the flagship project of the Cebu chamber, the largest and most influential business organization in Cebu and in the Visayas.
Held every month of June, CBM features activities focusing on efforts to strengthen the tourism sector, information and communications technology and business process management (ICT-BPM) industry, entrepreneurship and creative industries.
Each industry’s best practices and trends are discussed during conferences or business forums, which are held alongside trade/product exhibits.
The first major event is the MSME Industry Educational Tour, scheduled for June 5, which will serve as a mentorship/benchmarking program for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to learn the best practices from the large-scale businesses.
Another highlight is the Entrepreneurs’ Summit and Cebu Innovation Expo, scheduled for June 12-14, 2019 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.
This event aims to improve MSMEs’ capabilities to come up with and implement innovations to boost their businesses.
At the Tourism Innovation Forum on June 18, 2019, participants are expected to discuss success stories, new destinations, latest digital technologies for hospitality businesses, security innovations, farm tourism, and faith tourism, among others.
Edwin V. Ortiz, chairperson of CBM 2019 tourism committee, said the forum will also tackle current concerns and prompt stakeholders to address some actionable programs.
“It will hopefully stir our imaginations to innovate and capture more business opportunities in the 5A’s of Tourism:Arrival infra and services, Access infra and services, Accommodation innovation, Attractions, and Activities,” Ortiz said in a statement.
The forum will be held at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. (Ventures Cebu)
