More than 10 flights out of Clark International Airport and bound for Visayas airports that were scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, have been cancelled in the aftermath of a strong magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck Central Luzon on Monday.
Four flights were bound for the Mactan Cebu International Airport in Cebu: Philippine Airlines PR 835 at 6 a.m.; Cebu Pacific Air 5J 607 at 6 a.m.; AirAsia Z2 902 at 8:15 a.m.; and PAL PR 1834 at 6:55 p.m.
Ten other flights were bound for various airports in the Visayas, including Caticlan in Aklan and Panglao in Bohol.
Clark International Airport has been shut down for 24 hours until 7:40 p.m. of April 23 as the ceiling at its passenger terminal building collapsed when the quake struck at 5:11 p.m. Monday, April 22.
In a statement, PAL said it has cancelled 26 inbound and outbound flights at Clark.
Cebu Pacific Air, in a separate statement, said it cancelled 12 flights.
In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) said they still have to further check on the integrity of the airport terminal structure and facilities.
No damage was caused to the airport’s runway and taxiways.
The Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) also reported no damage at the construction site of the Clark International Airport New Terminal Building.
The BCDA also reported no damage to the facilities of the New Clark City Phase 1, which includes the government center and the sports stadium, the aquatics center, and the athletes’ dormitory which are being readied for the Southeast Asian Games in November.

The quake struck near Castillejos, Zambales. It was felt strongly in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
UPDATE:
Clark Airport resumed operations some 45 hours after the disaster, or at about 4 p.m. of April 24.
