Señor Kimchi’s Korean rice meals

We went to Señor Kimchi at the Vibo Place along Escario St., Cebu City. It offers Mexican-Korean fusion, but we ordered ones that were more Korean actually.

Korean back ribs for P295

This is the Korean back ribs. The sauce it’s coated in tastes generic and tangy. It wasn’t a standout really and we’re not sure what makes it Korean. Also, these look big, but they’re mostly bone. The amount of meat is just okay, What we do like about this is that it’s tender.

Kimchi rice topped with chicken for P255

Now we have a dish that features a quintessential Korean staple: kimchi! Kimchi is a traditional Korean side dish of salted and fermented vegetables. This kimchi rice can be topped with your choice of meat at varying prices. We went with chicken.

The plate is pretty busy - there was kimchi rice, more kimchi side dish, chicken, seaweed and egg. But all this made such a great dish. Egg was runny, which made it easy to mix with the rice. The kimchi was not too spicy and the chicken was flavorful. Our only complaint - there was not enough rice.

Korean fried chicken for P268

This is Korean fried chicken for P268. (This part is by our friend Claire @kwereating.)

It’s good chicken. I normally can’t eat spicy food but I ate most of this dish before I gave up because it is really good. Juicy and crispy. The vegetables were seasoned nicely, too, and I don’t even like veggies.

Sidenote: the rice isn’t enough for this dish either. Well, actually, it was an okay amount but the chicken in this dish and in kimchi fried rice were a lot. We ordered a cup of rice, but that cost P30!
