An 18-story mixed-use building will soon offer serviced apartments and commercial spaces near Redemptorist Church in Cebu City.
This development by Gotianuy Realty Corporation is being eyed to cater mainly to tourists, although some of the 200 apartelles or serviced apartments would also be offered to the locals, according to company president Kenneth L. Go.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on March 9, 2020. The building will be constructed on a 3,800-square-meter property near Redemptorist. It will have a gross floor area of 25,000 square meters.
Go said the building will feature commercial spaces on the ground floor, a mixed-use area on the second floor and the 200 apartments on the upper floors.
“Depending on the market condition upon project completion, we will cater to tourists but will allocate some floors to the local market, including ESL schools who have shown quite an interest on the project,” he said.
The building was designed by Cañizares Architects and will be constructed by Ascentia Construction, Inc. The project will be managed by Abadia Architects & Designers.
Gotianuy Realty, which is majority owned by University of Cebu president Augusto W. Go, pioneered the development of apartment hotels in Cebu City like the Alicia Apartelle in Banilad, which is now popular among Koreans.
The company is the holding company that manages all the properties acquired by the late Manuel Gotianuy, Go's father who built the first four-story building with elevator and air conditioning in Cebu City. This building, which was heavily damaged during World War II, has been restored to house the Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum. (Ventures Cebu)
