Vivant diversifies into water treatment business

Energy company Vivant Corporation of Cebu is diversifying its investment portfolio as it is set to embark on a water treatment and waste water treatment business.


A wholly-owned subsidiary, Vivant Hydrocore Holdings, Inc., signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with an Israeli company, WaterMatic International Ltd., to establish a joint venture company that will be engaged in the design, supply (including detailed design, procurement, and assembly), installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of water treatment and waste water treatment plants.


“The signing of the MOA with an experienced company in the water and wastewater treatment business is part of Vivant’s endeavor to diversify its investment portfolio to include infrastructure,” the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on June 20, 2019.


Vivant Hydrocore Holdings, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vivant InfraCore Holdings, Inc., which, in turn, is wholly owned by Vivant Corporation.


Vivant Corp., which is majority owned by the Garcia-Escaño family of Cebu, has interests in electric power generation (renewable and non-renewable energy), electric power distribution, and retail electricity supply business.


The company has equity investments in Cebu Private Power Corporation, Delta P, Inc., and Cebu Energy Development Corporation.


It focuses mainly on the off-grid small power utilities group (SPUG) sector. It is also engaged in the solar rooftop business through ET Vivant Solar through a joint venture with ET Energy Pilipinas Holding Corporation. (Ventures Cebu)
