Cebu’s homegrown coffee shop Bo’s Coffee continues its aggressive expansion, with plans to open five more stores overseas and more branches in key areas in the Philippines.

So far this year, seven additional Bo’s Coffee outlets have been opened across the country: 2 in Iligan City in Northern Mindanao; 1 in Ormoc City in Leyte; 1 in Panglao, Bohol; 1 in SM North Edsa in Metro Manila; and 1 in San Jose, Nueva Ecija.

Five more Bo’s Coffee will also open in Qatar, its first overseas location, to add to the existing two outlets there, founder Steve D. Benitez announced in a Facebook post on April 6.

Benitez, CEO of Bo’s Coffee operator WS & Landin, Inc., said the Qatar outlets are being run by local partner ALMAJED Group.

There are over 100 Bo’s Coffee outlets in the Philippines, proving that a homegrown company can hold its own against global coffee shop chains.

Earlier, Benitez said the company aims to increase its branch network to 200 by 2020, including those managed by franchisees.

Bo’s Coffee, which Benitez and his partners established in 1996, prides itself of sourcing locally grown coffee beans. It serves coffee from Sagada in Mountain Province, Benguet, Mt. Kitanglad in Bukidnon, Mt. Apo in Davao and Mt. Matutum in South Cotabato. (Ventures Cebu)
