Apotheca Integrative Pharmacy, the first online compounding pharmacy in the Philippines, has expanded its product portfolio to bolster awareness about the benefits of compounding medicines amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Apotheca now also offers a variety of categories comprising of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, weight loss management, intravenous nutrition, thyroid medication, erectile dysfunction, pain management, hair loss and dermatological preparation.
It is also further broadening its existing range to include pediatric preparations and nutraceuticals, which became essential for immune boosting.
These products are available on AIP’s website and e-commerce platform apotheca.com.ph. Interested partners and customers may simply sign up for account registration on the website to make orders and payments. The platform also offers real-time updates to help them track their orders.
“Filipinos have become more watchful of their health and safety than ever before, and we at AIP want to offer a wider range of solutions to help every Filipino achieve health and wellness, especially during these trying times,” AIP chief executive officer Richard Lista said.
“Our many years of experience in the compounding pharmacy field enabled us to develop and customize medicines and health products that meet not only world-class standards but also and, more importantly, Filipinos’ health and medicine needs,” he added.
Compounding is the science of customizing medications to a patient’s specific needs. Through this, Apotheca is able to remove problem-causing excipients, adjust dosage strengths to make the product more suitable for patients such as infants or the elderly, add flavors for better taste and create alternative form factors such as lozenges, candies, gels, creams, capsules and liquid, thereby making the medicines easily ingestible.
Through compounding, Apotheca also hopes to help address medicine shortages, a common scenario during surges such as in the case of COVID-19.
To produce high quality medicines, Apotheca compounds medicines in an ISO Class 5 and 7 clean room featuring biosafety cabinets, which are subject to regular third-party environmental testing. Its pharmacists use state-of-the-art compounding equipment, including a compounding-specific software that helps computerize workflow, profiles patients and doctors, and processes accuracy of mixtures.
To date, Apotheca Integrative Pharmacy has served more than 13,000 patients, over 1,300 medical doctors and operates with more than 600 formulations for both sterile and nonsterile medications.
Apotheca was established in 2013 and obtained its license from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration in 2014, making it a pioneer in the industry. The pharmacy collaborates with international partners such as the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) and Medisca Australia. (Ventures Cebu from PR)
